Parent Voice Group

Nunthorpe School has an established Parent Voice Group (PVG) formerly known as the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The membership of the PVG is drawn from those who are presently parents / carers / family relations of current students at the school or have been in the past, or are staff of the school.

Parent Voice Group (PVG)

PTA-UK membership number 32818
Charity Registration Number 1135797

PVG is a great opportunity to become directly involved with the school, through volunteering time and talents. Nunthorpe School and the PVG would like you to join, providing support to the development of the school and bringing a new voice to the school.

Support for PVG can be extremely flexible – from attending PVG run events through to a more active role on the Committee – all help is welcome! PVG have regular meetings which are informal and short in duration. Many ideas are shared such as how fundraising can fit in with the curriculum and how funds could be raised and spent. We also hold an Annual General Meeting at the start of every new academic year.

Our aims are:

  1. Care for the school and all those who work in it;
  2. Fund raise for the school;
  3. Organise social events to bring children, young people, adults and the local communities together;
  4. Provide support for school trips and outings and other special events;
  5. Be a voice within the school – creating a partnership between the school and parents; and
  6. Contribute to the wider community which the school serves.

The PVG is a great way for parents / carers and school staff to become directly involved with the school, through volunteering time and talents.

The PVG is a constituted group made up of parents and staff of the school:

  • Chair / Secretary: Kathryn Ruddy (Parent) – k_ruddy@sky.com – 07759227284
  • Vice Chair: Michelle Weir (Parent) – weir1116@sky.com – 07921228663
  • Treasurer: Helen Bullivant (Parent) – helen.bullivant@ntlworld.com – 07908604977

    Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

    I am writing to you to give you more information on Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Moodle. I am sure many of you have seen your child accessing work through Moodle at home and also want to know more about what it is and how it can be used.

    Moodle is primarily a Learning platform on our school website, which is an online area where students can access work, extend their learning and take part in a wide range of learning activities. All students have a unique login to Moodle which allows them to access the different courses created by their teachers. Within these courses they will find their homework and links to lesson resources and other websites. By accessing Moodle with your child you will be able to find out what he/she is doing in certain lessons and also be able to help keep track of any homework.
